Senior Business Analyst, Optum / UnitedHealth Group

My name is Aelsia Kelly and I graduated from NJIT in 2014 and 2015 with a bachelor's and master's in biochemical engineering and currently I work at United Health Group as a senior business analyst. My main role is to be a liaison between the product owners as well as the technology team so the product owner will tell me we need to enhance this part of our application and what I have to do is communicate this to the tech team by a business requirement document. So I have to write a whole requirement document that breaks down what the product owner wants and then, from there, translate that information to what the technology team can take in and then they produce this application. Currently our application is called Real World Evidence and what this is is we have all this patient data and what clients will do is that they take this information and put it into our application and what we do is that we provide different filter and say they are looking for just for patients with diabetes and they're taking X medication. So we are able to provide them with this patient journey of how long, you know, this person took this medication, and then from there they went to this step here or X, Y, and Z so they're able to see what the patient went through from the start and finish. You're also multitasking a lot because you have to work on the current item as well as, you know, you've worked on stuff for the previous release and then people will have questions about it. So if I'm working on something for the next iteration and then the team is working currently on producing what I worked on in the last iteration, they have to ask questions or, you know, they just need more clarifications for certain items so basically that's what my job entails.
