The goal of the First Year Insights program is to bridge the gap between college & corporate careers by demystifying invaluable professional development skills to hone in on early in your college career. Additionally, this will be an opportunity for you to network with Bloomberg professionals and experience Bloomberg culture.
First Year Insights kicks off with an in-person event on April 12, followed by a monthly series of five online workshops covering professional development, DEI-focused career support and resources for managing mental health and wellness.
Participation in all five workshops grants students early access to applications for our 2025 sophomore externship program.
Analytics & Sales Externship
- Target: Second-year students (Sophomores – Grad Year: December 2025 or Spring 2026) from underrepresented backgrounds interested in pursuing a career in a client-facing role/sales
- Dates: May 20-23, 2024
- Location: New York OR San Francisco
- Candidates MUST choose one location to apply to.
- If candidates are offered an internship after the program, the internship role will be at the same location where they completed the externship.

Internships are valuable at helping college juniors understand if a company is the right match. Bloomberg goes one step further with externships for sophomores, a program that enables a deeper understanding of our company, departments and culture and provides professional development training to prepare you for our internship interviews. Come see what it’s like to be a part of our Analytics team and learn more about the Analytics & Sales career track.
On the final day of the externship, participants may interview for the 2025 Analytics & Sales internship program. Based on intern performance in 2025, students may be invited to return as full-time employees with start dates in 2026.
