Principal Chemist of Pharmaceutical Raw Materials Chemistry, Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories

>> My name is Stacie Fichthorn. I am a principle chemist and a group leader at Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories. I have been with Eurofins for 17 years. After I graduated from Millersville that was my first job and I've stayed with not only the same company but also the same department during that time. My day consists of meeting with different individuals throughout our company working on logistics of projects. I work with a team of 13 chemists and we design experiments for clients to use for their raw materials in the pharmaceutical industry. When we are starting with a new project at our facility, we are talking to clients on that first contact, making contact with the client, and making sure that we understand what their needs are. Understanding what materials they're sending to us, understanding what type of testing they may require within our chemistry laboratory. The testing may include purity testing to make sure that the material is of a known purity before it's being used in the manufacture of medications and it could also involve testing to make sure that it's safe for the consumer to actually use on a day-to-day basis.
