>> My name is William Jones. I am the Director of Operations of Strategic Initiatives at the Rutgers University Careers Services Office. So I oversee assessment, PR marketing, information technologies, budget facilities and a bunch of other stuff, to be quite honest. I think for me, what really excites me about working on a college campus is you're constantly around students and students, you know they tend to graduate a lot, as we know. And so you're always getting new ideas and new input from the next generation of students and that's really what feeds me. I also like be able to see what it is that I'm working on come to fruition. And so when you're doing PR marketing, for example, and you're walking around the residence halls or riding the shuttle bus and you see your designs right there, it's really fulfilling. Or when you're working in IT and your IT is always developing, you have to be really innovative. And you learn a lot from your students, especially your student employees who work with you, how to be really innovative in those areas. So for me it's really the student base that attract me to a college campus and really made me want to stay here as a full time employee. Now mind you I never thought that I could actually work full time on a college campus and make some money from it until I had a chance to do a fellowship, which landed me in the University Career Center at the University of Maryland as an intern. And that's when I really discovered that you know the people around this place that make it work, they get paid for it. [laughter] So you know what is it that I had to do in order to be like them one day? And it gave me the opportunity to really learn the answer to those questions.
