Audit Staff (Entry-Level)
VBA CPAs is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented recent college graduate to join our Audit & Assurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone beginning their public accounting career who wants hands-on experience working with a variety of clients and industries.
The Audit Staff Accountant will assist with audits, reviews, and compilations while learning the fundamentals of planning, risk assessment, and performing attestation engagements. This position offers direct client interaction, professional development opportunities, and mentorship from experienced CPAs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the performance of audits, reviews, and compilation engagements
- Prepare workpapers and supporting documentation for attestation engagements
- Assist with financial statement preparation and related disclosures
- Perform audit testing and analytical procedures
- Gather and organize client information and communicate with client personnel
- Develop an understanding of GAAP and GAAS and apply them to engagements
- Work collaboratively with engagement teams to meet client deadlines
- Learn and utilize firm software and technology tools to complete engagements efficiently
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Recent graduate or up to two years of accounting experience
- CPA exam eligibility required; progress toward CPA certification preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of QuickBooks is a plus
- Familiarity with CCH Engagement, CCH Axcess, or PPC Smart Practice Aids is a plus
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
