Position Overview
We are looking to hire a Summer Analyst for our Fund Accounting team in our NYC office. This is a full-time, in office position (40-hours per week). This 10-week internship program will be starting in June 2025. This position will sit within our corporate accounting team, reporting into our firm’s Controller and offers the opportunity for future full-time employment upon graduation.
This is a great opportunity for someone to learn more about the accounting department at an Alternative Asset Manager in the Credit space.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Accounting with an expected graduation date of December 2025 or June 2026
- Top Academic Performance (Minimum 3.3 GPA)
- Strong Analytical Skills
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Support the Controller and Senior Fund Accountants within the organization.
- Communicate with Fund Administrators, preparing any necessary documentation, payments, and transfers as required
- Assist in the preparation and review of NAV packages and financial statements
- Assist in the review of Capital Calls, Distributions, Waterfall Calculations.
- Engage with stakeholders throughout the financial statement process
- Process Expense reports through Expensify
- Support the accounting team on various cash receipt and disbursement related tasks
- Assist the team with the close process and various monthly journal entries
- Drive process improvements, among other projects
In accordance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Law, the compensation for this role is $35 per hour at Obra Capital. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
