Under direction of a Supervisor I in the Health and Safety Section, the Analyst II will independently perform the most complex, technical, and analytical assignments. This position will be part of a team tracking and monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic, providing support to staff and management, and completing daily reports. The duties will also include analytical support such as budgets, procurement of supplies and equipment for the unit, ergonomic support, reviewing and editing policy and procedures, and supporting then entire Health and Safety Section. The Analyst II is expected to work independently, as part of a team, or as the lead analyst, to be courteous, provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and consider customers’ input when completing assignments. Duties will include sensitive public contact with other state agencies within the CalEPA organization and external control agencies such as the Department of General Services (DGS) and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CalOSHA).
This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense. Beginning July 1st, 2026, it is anticipated the position will be office-centered and employees will be expected to report to the office at least four days per week.
