Prepare for a Career in Health Professions: Apply to the HealthPREP 2026 Summer Program

Are you passionate about pursuing a career in healthcare and ready to take the next step toward graduate or professional school? The HealthPREP Program—facilitated by Emory University School of Medicine (EUSOM) and the Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH)—is an intensive eight-week summer experience designed to prepare future leaders in medicine, public health, and other health professions.

HealthPREP supports first-generation and low-income undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in careers such as medicine, physician assistant, anesthesiology assistant, genetic counseling, physical therapy, radiologic technology, or public health.

Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and professional development, participants gain the academic and personal skills to become competitive applicants for graduate programs and health professions schools.

Program Highlights:

  • Weekly public health seminars led by RSPH
  • MCAT or GRE preparation sessions
  • Admissions information sessions with EUSOM programs (MD, PA, AA, DPT, GC, and more)
  • Clinical and translational research seminars
  • Networking events with faculty, healthcare professionals, and HealthPREP alumni
  • Workshops focused on professionalism, wellness, LinkedIn, and financial readiness
  • Shadowing and clinical experiences at Atlanta-area health centers
  • Research proposal and presentation on health equity topics

Funded through the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), HealthPREP aims to expand access to health careers and increase diversity across the healthcare field.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • First-generation college student and/or Pell Grant–eligible (economically disadvantaged)
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Minimum 2.7 GPA (science and cumulative)
  • At least two years of undergraduate coursework completed
  • Interest in a health-related profession
  • Must meet additional criteria for chosen test prep track (MCAT or GRE)

Application Requirements:

  • Online application with a 500-word personal statement
  • Resume or CV
  • Financial aid documentation (if applicable)
  • Three letters of recommendation (two from professors)
  • Official electronic transcripts from all colleges attended
